Relinquish a dog

Before you relinquish

We understand that due to circumstances beyond your control, surrendering your Saint Bernard to us may be your only choice. However, we do ask that you make a clear and conscious effort to give your Saint every possible chance to remain in its loving environment. Should you still need to call on us, we will make every effort to call you or email you in a timely manner and work your Saint into the system as space allows. Please understand that we are a foster home based group. We do not have a shelter! Therefore, space is very limited and it is possibe that we may not be able to assist you.

In the event that we cannot help you, Wonderpuppy's Can We Help? website offers valuable information on how to help keep your dog or how to find a suitable new home for your dog. Provided that we are able help your dog, we DO NOT accept Saints that have a bite history with humans and other animals or show signs of serious aggression.

The Process

To relinquish a Saint Bernard, you must first fill out a Relinquish Request form. We will evaluate your request and our ability to accomodate your dog, and we will get back to you with our decision. Since we are an entirely volunteer-run group, please allow up to three (3) weeks for a reponse.

Grace Period

There is a grace period of three (3) days should the owners/releasers change their mind and wish to reclaim the relinquished dog. If the dog is reclaimed, there will be a boarding fee of no less than $15.00 per day, plus any veterinary expenses and any additional expenses incurred during the course of the dog's stay with Saint Bernard Rescue. If you wish to waive these rights, we provide the option to do so in the relinquish form.

Relinquish Fee

We ask for a minimum donation of $50 to help ready your Saint for adoption. For more information, please feel free to contact us.
